Bio

Joslin Knightstep is a legal professional and advocate whose work is rooted in a deep commitment to justice, equity, and community empowerment. Hailing from the crown jewel of the Hi-Line, Havre, and a member of the Chippewa-Cree tribe, she brings to her role as a paralegal with the ACLU of Montana a thoughtful blend of precision, compassion, and determination. Her passion for civil liberties is grounded in the belief that meaningful change can begin with even the smallest actions, and the spark of just once voice speaking out can ignite a call for progress.

Her work is guided by a strong sense of service and advocacy, particularly for Indigenous communities and other historically underserved populations. With a keen attention to detail and a people-centered approach, she supports legal efforts that defend constitutional rights and expand access to justice across Montana. She is driven by the understanding that the law can be a powerful tool for accountability, equity, and lasting change. Her perspective is informed by her lived experience, her connection to her tribal community, and her dedication to creating a more just future for the next generation. As she begins this new chapter with the ACLU of Montana, Joslin is honored to contribute to work that challenges injustice and strengthens civil liberties for all Montanans.

In her free time, Joslin can be found chasing brook trout in mountain streams, exploring a niche local museum, or sharing laughter with family and friends.
