NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the Trump administration’s escalating abuses of power. We’ve watched as the Trump administration has cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political positions, threatened to deport American citizens, and come up to the line with defying the courts. They think they can attack our rights unchecked—but we the people can and will check their worst impulses to curtail our civil liberties.
On June 14, we are protesting across the country. Communities will gather to condemn President Trump’s abuses of power and send a clear message that the government must serve the people – not the president.
More than 1,400 protests are planned in cities across the country, including Helena, Billings, Missoula, and more. This will be the largest mass mobilization since President Trump returned to office.
The Trump administration is doubling down on attempts to further limit our First Amendment rights and use the federal government to attack political rivals, stifle dissent, and undermine checks and balances on presidential power. What we’ve seen so far is as troubling as it is illegal: The president is using the immense power of the federal government to silence opposition through fear.
We will fight back across the country against attacks from the Trump administration because protecting our democracy isn’t a partisan issue – it’s an American imperative. The freedom to dissent without fear of government retribution is a vital part of any well-functioning democracy, which is why our leaders must protect this right no matter who is in office. To ensure even the most vulnerable communities here at home are able to exercise their rights, we need to fight back.
