The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Health Department on recently began providing an emergency over-the-counter contraception drug to any female, any age, without a prescription.

The ACLU of Montana would like to offer kudos to the CSKT Tribal Health Department for taking this important step to protect the health of women and girls on the Flathead Reservation. This action is consistent with a recent policy change on Plan B that the national Indian Health Service made in response to advocacy by the national ACLU, Native American Women’s Health Education Resource Center, and Amnesty International.
