Over the last four decades, this country has relentlessly expanded the size of our criminal justice system, needlessly throwing away too many lives and wasting trillions of taxpayer dollars. Montana is no exception.
We seek to uplift Indigenous people, communities and tribes through community-directed and integrated legal and advocacy work. We aim to support tribal communities -- and follow their lead -- as they work to uphold their sovereignty, dignity, and autonomy.
The ACLU of Montana has been advocating and litigating for LGBTQ rights for well over a decade. This includes litigation on employment, parenting and relationship recognition as well as using our legal resources to affirm the rights of students to form student groups in their schools.
The ACLU of Montana is committed to pursuing racial justice in all parts of society, including in the criminal justice system, elections and in our schools and businesses.
