In 2017, the ACLU of Montana worked to protect the constitutional rights and civil liberties of all Montanans, including members of the 13 Native American tribes within the state.

During the 2017 legislative session, we successfully played a lot of defense and stopped a number of bills that would infringe on our freedom or threaten the civil rights and liberties of Montanans.  We stopped numerous anti-immigrant, anti-reproductive freedom, and anti-LGBTQ bills from passing.  We also stopped bills that would have infringed on our right to free speech.

Thank you for your support and action during the 2017 session. Read our 2017 End of Session Report. (There's a shorter version here!)
