In order to protect both public health and access to democracy during the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Primary wasl be conducted via mail. However, you can still register to vote and cast your ballot in-person. More details regarding the effect of the pandemic on the general eleciton will be updated here as we learn them.

What Should I Bring?

You will need identification. You can use either your Montana drivers license, state ID card, or the last four digits of your Social Security Number. You can also use your tribal ID.

If you do not have these forms of ID, you can also use a photo ID that shows your name or an ID that shows your name and current address (paycheck stub, utility bill, bank statement, or government document).

What Will Happen?

Some elections offices will have separate lines for voter registration and ballot services. If you need to register to vote, it’s a good idea to clarify if you’re in the correct line.

Elections office staff will assist you and provide your voter registration form and ballot. They will explain what you need to do to register or cast your ballot. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification or assistance.

Lines on Election Day can be long. If that is the case, we urge you to be patient and stay in line.

Remember. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you have the right to register and vote!
