The Montana legislature passed a new law banning TikTok.  Montana’s unprecedented and unconstitutional ban tramples on the free speech rights of all Montana residents who use TikTok to express themselves, communicate, and get the news. It also sets an alarming precedent for excessive government control over how we use the internet. This ban will go into effect January 1, 2024, unless the court acts now. The ACLU Foundation, ACLU of Montana and Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed an Amicus brief in Alario et al v. Knudsen arguing that the ban violates the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We are committed to fighting back and will not let elected officials trade our First Amendment rights for cheap political points.
